Keboard  के Keys-- एक सामान्य Keyboard में कुल 104 Keys होती है . तथा इनकी संख्या Keyboard Manufactures और Operating System पर भी निर्भर करती है. इसलिए मोटे तौर पर हम कह सकते है कि एक QWERTY Keyboard में लगभग 100 Keys (±) होती है. की-बोर्ड में मौजूद प्रत्येक कुंजी का अपना विशेष कार्य होता है. और इसी कार्य के आधार पर इनको निम्न छह श्रेणीयों में बाँटा गया है. जिनका वर्णन इस प्रकार है.
